Housing First for Families is designed to help homeless families with children gain stability and independence. A two-year program, HFF provides subsidized housing and educational scholarships for over 20 households at a time. HFF operates out of the Sobrato Family Living Center with families residing throughout Santa Clara County. Through a successful combination of housing, education, and support, HFF allows families to break the cycle of poverty and end homelessness for future generations.
As parents attend school and search for employment, they receive regular case management to assist with core issues of financial management, life skills, and other challenges. In addition to serving adults, HFF provides resources and support for children living in the program.
HFF requires dedicated people with a strong desire to work hard, attain employment, and improve their lives. To be eligible for HFF, families must be homeless and consist of a one- or two-parent household with at least one minor child. They must be referred by a school district liaison and/or be enrolled in a local community college or trade school.
The program operates a waiting list for prospective clients. The HFF waiting list is currently CLOSED.
