APPROVED! Bridge Housing Communities coming to San Jose!

GREAT NEWS TODAY! San Jose's City Council voted 10-1 approving two Bridge Housing Communities that will house an estimated 320 homeless individuals!

More information to come, and we are so thrilled to be working on this important + necessary project with Habitat for Humanity East Bay/Silicon Valley, Sam Liccardo, and Districts 3 + 7, and the City of San Jose!

Update: BRC to get much-needed renovations

We are so excited and grateful for an upcoming remodel of the Boccardo Reception Center bathrooms. XL Construction—as well as HomeAid Northern California, Pulte Homes, and Hallmark Building & Development—have generously contributed to the renovation project, which will be a much-needed improvement to our restroom facilities, including making them ADA compliant!

We are in awe of the commitment and heart of community partners like these!

HomeFirst Veteran Housed in 35 days!!!

Anyone up for happy housing news this rainy afternoon?

Veteran Larry Clear, 70, entered the BRC shelter in late October and is now HOUSED only after 35 days, which is not only fast but so amazing!!!

"Larry is the most go-getter ever and utilized every resource and more offered to him," said Callie Gregg, HomeFirst VESP SC Outreach/Case Manager. "He really is the reason I am in this position because ANYONE can fall on hard times but with a little extra support from HomeFirst he is able to be back on his feet."

Larry worked directly with Callie, VESP Housing Specialist Jose Toledo and Supportive Services for Veteran Families (SSVF) program.

Great job everyone, and congratulations Larry on your new home, going to school FT to become a substance abuse counselor and working at the VA in Palo Alto!!!
