Veteran Services
HomeFirst offers the most comprehensive services for homeless veterans in the County, including mental health counseling, employment placement, emergency shelter, transitional housing, and support for families of veterans who are at risk of homelessness.
GPD - Grant and Per Diem
HomeFirst’s GPD (Grant and Per Diem) Program offers comprehensive support to male Veterans who are ineligible for VA healthcare. Participants receive apartment-style housing, case management, and three meals daily. The apartments are conveniently located across from our shelter in San Jose, allowing residents to access the additional services provided there. Veterans in the program collaborate closely with a HomeFirst Case Manager and a VA Liaison to ensure they receive the necessary support and resources.
SSVF - Supportive Services for Veterans and Their Families
The Supportive Services for Veterans Families (SSVF) program provides rapid rehousing and homeless prevention assistance to qualified Veterans and Veteran families (Veteran heads of household) who are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless. The program focuses on short-term assistance leading to long-term stability for low and very low-income Veteran households. The program offers case management, short-term financial assistance, legal support, street-based outreach, assistance with VA benefits, employment assistance, and healthcare navigation and housing search services.
