HomeFirst helps adults, families, veterans, and youth who are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless, find and keep permanent housing. For more than 40 years, we have been a leader in addressing homelessness in Santa Clara County. Although we are a close partner with other agencies working in our sector, we depend on funding from corporations, foundations, and individuals to help us serve the most vulnerable of our population.

HomeFirst serves more than 5,000 people each year using Housing First strategies. We operate Santa Clara County’s largest homeless service center and field the largest shelter and street/encampment outreach teams in San Jose. We also run two family living centers in Santa Clara and San Martin, and operate numerous programs from Rapid Rehousing to Permanent Supportive Housing.

three people as a community

In addition, HomeFirst offers the most comprehensive set of services for homeless veterans in Santa Clara County, including mental health counseling, employment placement, emergency shelter, transitional housing, and support for families of veterans who are at risk of homelessness. We’re also the largest provider of cold weather shelter services and are often called upon to respond to natural disaster events where emergency temporary housing is needed (e.g., Coyote Creek flooding in 2017).

But we cannot do this critical work without you! Support our teams as they continue to do the front-line work of getting people housed.
