Inclement Weather

HomeFirst operates a seasonal shelter along with Overnight Warming Locations during the winter and Cooling Stations in the summer heat advisories.

Cold Weather Shelter Program (CWSP)

The Mountain View Shelter is a seasonal shelter that provides services from November through April, ensuring the unhoused community is warm, safe, and supported throughout the winter season. The site serves women and families.

To stay at the shelter, a referral is needed (walk-ins are not accepted). If you are seeking services, please call the Here4You hotline.

Overnight Warming Locations (OWLs)

HomeFirst has partnered with the City of San Jose, San Jose Public Libraries, and San Jose Parks & Rec to offer Overnight Warming Locations (OWLs) across San Jose. These sites, which opened in November and close in April, are set up every evening and broken down the following morning, allowing the locations to serve a different purpose during the day.

A referral is needed to stay at the OWLs. If you are seeking services, please call 408-539-2105.

Warming and Cooling Centers

During excessive weather warnings, having proper resources is vital. Cooling and Warming Center locations are posted on the County's Office of Emergency Management website as information is received. Please use the button below to find the resources available in your area.
